Step 1 Choose a person to interview.
Think of people you know who are available to interview. Choose an interview subject from a culture different than your own.
Step 2 Create interview questions.
Create six to eight interview questions that are culturally sensitive. The questions should incorporate the following topics:
Cultural view of health
View of traditional medicine and/or traditional health care practices
Source of health care information/resources
Step 3 Conduct an interview.
Use your questions and conduct an interview of the person you chose. The interview should be approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 4 Write a summary of the interview.
Explain the importance of practicing cultural humility in the interview process. Describe the nursing models of providing culturally competent care or other considerations you gave, before and during the interview, related to the questions you created. Summarize answers to interview questions to include information and insights gained that addressed one or two of the following topics:
Cultural clues
Patterns
Health/traditional medicine practices
Health care resources
Cite all the resources you used in the completion of this assignment and include a reference page.
Step 5 Save and submit your assignment.
When you have completed your assignment, save a copy for yourself in an easily accessible place and submit a copy to your instructor using the drop-box.
