Statistics Project
This project will help you understand how the informative decision is made using data analysis. After completing this project, you will be able to determine which statistical procedures are appropriate; and use EXCEL, or StatCruch or Rsoftware(s) to carry out the procedures and interpret the output.
Directions
Previous studies have shown that urban bus drivers have an extremely stressful job, and a large proportion of drivers retire prematurely with disabilities due to occupational stress. These stresses come from a combination of physical and social sources such as traffic congestion, incessant time pressure, and unruly passengers. A study examined the effects of an intervention program to improve the conditions of urban bus drivers. Among other variables the researchers monitored diastolic blood pressure of bus drivers in downtown Stockholm, Sweden. The data, in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg), are based on the diastolic blood pressures obtained prior to intervention for a random sample of 25 bus drivers in the study.

Complete the analysis of Exploratory Data Analysis and Inferential Statistics.
A) Exploratory Data Analysis
A1. Summarize the data using a stem and leaf display.
A2. Summarize the data using a histogram with 5 bins/classes (width = 8)
A3. Construct a boxplot and use it to investigate the data for outliers.
A4. Summarize the data set using the sample mean, median, and standard deviation.
B) Inferential Statistics
B1. Since you are working with a small sample (fewer than 30 data values), construct a normal probability plot or quantile-quantile (QQ) plot to assess normality. Use this assessment to determine which procedures are appropriate for these data for confidence interval and test of hypothesis as you will use these procedures for parts B2 and B3 below.
B2. Construct a 90% confidence interval for the mean boldsymbol{mu}(the population mean diastolic blood pressure of all urban bus drivers in Stockholm).
B3. In adults the ideal diastolic blood pressure is 80 mm Hg. At the 10% significance level, do the data provide sufficient evidence to conclude that the mean diastolic blood pressure of bus drivers in Stockholm exceeds the normal diastolic blood pressure of Ho : Mean 80 mm Hg (claim)? Conduct the appropriate test. Perform the full hypothesis test.
C) Write up a summary and findings of the project
C1. Write a brief introduction of the project.
C2. Compare the measures of center and comment on the shape of the distribution. Include results of investigation for outliers.
C3. Assess normality.
C4. Write an interpretation for the interval estimate using the context of the data.
C5. State the conclusions of the significance test and interpret the p-value using the context of the data.
C6. Compare the results from the confidence interval and the significance test. Are they the same? Why do think this is the case?
C7. How has this project helped you understand the purpose and value of the study of statistics?
D) Submit your project in CANVAS as a pdf file no later than APRIL 27 (9:00 AM). You MUST TYPE YOUR REPORT using a computer typesetting such as Microsoft Word. (Handwriting is NOT Accepted and will be given a zero if you failed to meet these requirements). email SUBMISSION will NOT be GRADED !!!
First page – Including your name(s) and ATT #. (A group of up to 2 students is accepted but you still need to submit your group report separately)
From the 3rd page to the FINAL page – Write – up (See Part C) including software outputs and additional work (See Parts A and B)
Note: You must use complete sentences. In order to enhance your learning experience with this project, use the Internet to gain a basic working knowledge of blood pressure readings. This project involves diastolic blood pressures of urban bus drivers.
Their is also a written portion of this that has to be completed as well
