Overview
As a new nurse, you must be prepared with a current resume (or curriculum vitae) and a cover letter specific to the position you are applying for. A well-written cover letter and resume will set you apart from other applicants and could result in an interview.
Instructions
For your initial post, use the discussion prompts as a guide for content and write 200–250 words and include a cover letter and resume for the position you describe. Then, provide constructive feedback to at least two of your peers’ posts regarding their cover letter and resume (or curriculum vitae).

Reality Shock and Nursing Education

Reflect on your journey of becoming a nurse and the possibility of reality shock, which is the reaction you may experience as a new graduate when you discover the healthcare field may not always reflect what you learned in your nursing program. Consider the reality shock you have experienced as a nursing student. Think about how to continue your role as a lifelong learner to overcome future reality shock in the medical field.
Write 200–250 words using the discussion prompts to guide the content for your initial post. Then, reply to at least two of your peers’ posts.

- Identify three reality shocks that you have already experienced during your journey of becoming a nurse.
- Provide 2–3 coping skills you have used as a nursing student to overcome reality shock.
- Research different continuing education platforms for nurses and select one you are interested in taking within five years of entering the field. Explain how this platform will help to continue to advance your career as a nurse.
