Speech analysis 
For this assignment, you will write a 2-3 page (plus a Works Cited Page) MLA formatted essay in which you analyze a speech or music video of your choice using the list we created. Only speeches from the list are acceptable for this assignment. Anything not on the list will not be accepted.
First- choose a speech from this list for analysis



Then-listen to the speech/video noting the rhetorical strategies from chapters 1-5  rhetorical devicesLinks to an external site. . Remember you want specific quoted examples of the rhetorical devices you plan to analyze in your paper. 
Then, in a 2-3 page MLA formatted Word document, write an analysis using the rhetorical terms we have been studying. Be sure to quote at least two examples of the appeals used as well as any other rhetorical strategies/devices used and decide if they are effectively used or not and why. Each body paragraph should have at least two quoted examples

The speeches all have Closed Captioning (CC), and most have the transcripts available so you can see the words if you need for quoting purposes.
Introduction:
include the title of the speech, author of speech, when and where the speech was given, 
any pertinent historical context (events that may have surrounded the speech), or 
the occasion for the speech 
explain if the speech is meant to convince and inform, persuade, make decisions, or understand and explore.
Identify who the audience is or who the intended audience may be. 
Then a thesis statement that makes it clear you are analyzing the rhetorical strategies of the speech
For example:
In Ellie Wiesel’s speech “Perils of Indifference,” he uses several rhetorical strategies to appeal to his audience.
Body paragraphs should include 
a topic sentence that makes it clear which rhetorical strategy/ device you will be analyzing in the paragraph. 
include at least two quoted examples from the speech.
Be sure to include some analysis on the credibility of the speaker. 
Conclusion- In this paragraph try to relate the speech to a current issue in our world today.
