Signature Assignment Writing Guidelines
Be mindful, this is a social work class. You will want to make connections to the profession of social work. Utilize the terms and theory you have learned in this class. Review modules 5 through 8 as they will help you with the signature assignment. Please look at the assignment and ask me any questions you may have before you begin writing.
Writing expectations include competency in the following:
Formatting:
6-8 pages (excluding title page and references page)
Must be double-spaced with 1-inch margins and typed in
12-point Times New Roman.
Your essay should have a Title Page and References Page.
Your Signature Assignment should be proofread for spelling and grammar mistakes.
Other areas to pay attention to include:
Sentence Structure
Focus and organization throughout the paper. The paper should ow in a logical manner.
References and Citations:
You must cite all information used, including page numbers to avoid plagiarism.
You should use a minimum of 6-8 sources from the TUW Library in support of your Signature Assignment.
Please note you can use other web-based sources in addition to the library sources.
Signature Assignment Requirements
Start with an introduction and end with a conclusion.
The following headings (History of Policy, Develop A Policy, Stakeholders, What Have I Learned) are required in your Signature Assignment. Respond to the questions under each heading in a narrative essay format.
History of Policy
1. Briey describe the History (Timeline: past to present) of policies related to the social problem you chose in the case assignment. 2. Why was it enacted?
3. Has it changed over time?
4. How does the policy work?
Who qualies?
What programs have developed because of the policy(ies)?
5. Were there or are there protests or social movements related to the social problem.
Briey discuss their role and impact in the of the policy.
6. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the policy(ies).
Develop A Policy
1. Develop a new policy or add to the current policy using a social justice culturally responsive framework
2. What are the goals of your policy?
3. How and why will your new policy or policy addition address the social welfare issue better than the existing policy(ies)? 4. How will it impact the target population: what will your policy improve and/or expand?
5. How will you evaluate the policy? What measurement could you use to monitor the eectiveness of your policy?
Stakeholders
1. Identify the stakeholders of your policy.
2. How will you address the stakeholders that oppose your policy?
