Purpose: To identify the role of the Community Nurse in meeting selected health care needs of a community population. The SL Project strengthens community engagement or addresses an identified need that can’t be met because of lack of resources. You will be given opportunities to be exposed to diverse experiences that expand your perspectives and enhance your professional skills including communication and problem-solving.

Partnering with a Community-based non-profit, approved by Professor 1st, you will participate in a project to meet identified community health-related needs. Example of SL opportunities; Schools, food pantries, homeless shelters, synagogues, churches, etc. Look at your United Way or other community volunteer webpage. When possible, we can do this together, as a class project. A minimum of 12 hours of volunteer work is required.
Complete an individual reflection paper, double spaced 2.5-3 pages, (3.5-4 if you include a cover page) addressing your service learning experience,comprising answers to all questions below in paragraph form, includingdescription of time, ending in a conclusive statement. Submit paper and signature/log form to D2L.
