Research
Research the websites of agencies in each setting you chose and read their mission statements. Review the services they provide and the roles of social workers in each setting.
Create a 10- to 12-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation as if you were a social worker explaining to potential interns the scope of practice for social workers in various roles and settings. Your presentation should include the following information supported by evidence from your research:
Identify and describe the services provided in each of the 3 selected settings. Summarize the function of the role of the social worker in each setting and what the client should expect from a social worker supporting them in that role. (Examples of social worker roles from the textbook include advocate, broker, case manager, counselor, mediator, navigator, and researcher.)
Describe the social work values, skills, and knowledge that the social worker should have, and explain how they are used in delivering services. Explain how these values, skills, and knowledge represent the standards in the NASW social work Code of Conduct.
Describe the professional dispositions that social workers are expected to show when working with clients. Give an example of a service that clients may need that social workers do not provide, or a role that they may expect from a social worker that would be out of scope for a generalist practitioner. Identify the individual or helping professional who might be referred to provide more effective support to the client in such a case. Explain best practices for working collaboratively with clients in social work settings.
