Respond to this student:
A company stays in business when it builds and maintains a loyal customer base that connects to its products/services and is profitable. The other obvious aspects of organizational management are important and beneficial in growing and sustaining the business, but without customer loyalty and profitability, it is all for nothing. Customers are the lifeblood of any business. Meyer (2021) shares that customers contribute to research, planning, marketing, and quality control checks for businesses but that it is up to the organization to create ease for customers to fulfill these roles. Customers also benefit businesses by promoting brands, influencing prospective customers, providing valuable feedback, helping businesses target advertisements, and representing a company’s future (Olaniyan, 2022).
Of course, driving revenue is an essential role of the customer in the organizational management process. Yet, it is important to remember that managing and maintaining customers is how the revenue remains steady. Investing in customers in other ways to enable trust-building with the business is crucial as it breeds loyalty, along with revenue. For example, it may look like taking the time to personally get to know your customers if you own a small business, or it may look like implementing a customer loyalty program if you own a substantial business. Regardless of size, reaching the customer is of utmost importance to the growth and sustainability of a business. Managing customer care in a business maintains brand reputation, retains customers, moderates customer complaints, and creates a niche set apart from competitors (Admin, 2018). There are many vital aspects in the organizational management process, but the role of the customer is certainly near the top of the list and should be given much consideration for the success and longevity of any business.
