Instructions for completing Sociology Magazine
Student Learning Outcome measured:
Students will identify relationships between individuals and society.
Students will apply sociological concepts and theories to everyday life.
Students will analyze factors contributing to social inequality and its consequences.
INSTRUCTORS WILL HELP DEFINE A MAGAZINE TOPIC BASED ON THE STUDENTS’ MAJOR BY BRAINSTORMING IN THE CLASSROOM.
Then:
The Magazine will be a Topic of Interest selected by the student based on the relationship between the individual and society.
(The three perspectives: Functionalist; Conflict; Interactionist)
The first homework assignment about the magazine will be to
choose three different topics of interest about the above (#1).
**The instructor will help students brainstorm in the classroom for magazine topics ideas beforehand.
The topics will be based on the idea of sociology and applying the idea to the student’s Major, such as Social Service, Criminal Justice, Education, Computer Science, Mathematics, etc.
The Instructor will then review the Student’s Homework for the best topic to create the magazine.
Magazine Format:
The Magazine will be 12 pages NOT including the BIBLIOGRAPHY
The Magazine will have a Magazine Cover page
The Magazine will have a Table of Contents
The Magazine will have ONE Article (2 pages) created by the student
The Magazine will include Advertisement
The Magazine will have at least 4 other articles of interest based on your topic (make sure to cite the work); “did you know”; questions to the reader about the topic
The Magazine will have “Word Finder”; “Word Puzzle”; “Cross Word” or some game about the Magazine Topic
All Work WILL be CITED that you did not create
Bibliography will be in APA Format
