Description 
In Popular Culture and Everyday Life, Charles Soukup and Christina R. Foust argue that “popular culture, like other art forms, provide[s] ‘equipment for living … the symbolic resources and strategies for addressing and resolving the given historical and personal problems [individuals and collectives] face’” (p. 10).  ——> BOOK PDF Provided,
Similarly, the new exhibition at the Canadian Museum of Human Rights (CMHR), Beyond the Beat (Check out the website in the hyperlink) explores the important role that music has played in many social movements, including the labour movement.  (Make sure to include a thing or two from the picture pdf that is provided)
Visit the CMHR exhibition, choose a popular song about work and labour issues, and use the sources listed below to write an essay ( 1,000 words (double-spaced, 12-point font, 1- inch margins)

Process 
Visit the exhibition and make notes about the labour section. (Pictures already provided for the labour section in a separate pdf document)
Choose a popular song (Song: Boom Went the Boom, provided in hyperlink) about work and labour issues that you would add to the labour section of the exhibition and upload it to UM Learn. 
Come up with a thesis statement that answers the question above. 
Develop an outline with an introduction, several body paragraphs, and a conclusion. 
Add topic sentences for each paragraph and evidence from your sources (with citations) to your outline. 
Revise your essay.
A strong essay:
have a clearly defined introduction that identifies the topic and states your thesis, e.g. “This paper argues / I argue that [song title] should be added to the labour section of the Beyond the Beat exhibition because…” (You don’t have to use this exact phrasing, but it can help ensure you have a thesis statement.);
