In our pervious discussion post I choose to write about the Duty theory. I believe this is one of the stronger ethical theories. Just over all if there aren’t rules that we had to follow the world be a total loose cannon as well as a hopeless lost place and nothing else would even matter at this point. In this discussion post I would like to talk about the ethical issues involving abortion. There are many ways you can look at abortion in ethical and unethical situations and some of them fall in line with the duty theory.
Based on the Duty theory, which is also called Deontology ethical theory, means a person should strictly follow a set of moral rules that becomes your personal values and because of that you will be able to tell what is right and what is wrong. If a person who has the ethics of the duty theory towards the rules and requirements of God then killing would be allowed, which would make abortion a thing that is totally okay with whatever the situation maybe. I think choosing to kill a baby that didn’t ask to be here shouldn’t just be something to do.
I personally am on the fence when it comes to abortion. I say this because every situation is different and unique. A counterargument might be what if a woman is sexually assaulted and now is with child. I think the woman has a right to choose if she wants to keep the baby or go to the clinic and have an abortion. Another counterargument might be something like well I found out that I am pregnant after having a one night stand and think I want to have a abortion because I don’t know anything about the guy. In that situation I think it would not be a good thing to kill the baby. I only say this because if they were following the rules that God put in the Bible then they would know that a consequence of premarital sex is unplanned pregnancies.
