Dissemination of outcomes requires a careful appraisal. It should be carefully planned so that the audiences receive the EBP results. The gaps prevailing amidst discovery for public health knowledge and implementation of practice settings and policy development are due to ineffective communications. Some of the strategies to disseminate outcomes include books, journals, social media, speaking at conferences, and other events related to EBP. The success of dissemination of information occurs when apt audiences are identified and messages are tailored through apt mediums. The research conducted should consider the means by which findings should or could impact education, clinical practice, policy, and future research (Brownson et al., 2018).
Dissemination methods should be tailored to par with the message, audience, source, and channel. Internal audiences such as the hospital board would be informed about the findings by organizing a meeting during which, the results would be announced and explained in detail. This is a strong communication method because it allows two-way dialogues through which feedback and response from the audience can be obtained. The team leader of the project can orally present the results. Newsletters could be used to share findings with external stakeholders such as a professional nursing organizations. In order to determine the success of dissemination, it is necessary to strike the right balance among available tools and receive sufficient user feedback. Formal surveying and key informant interviews may be helpful to accomplish this and facilitate planning future strategies. ‘Impact log’ can be beneficial to accumulate feedback on communication strategies. Synthesizing this information into a best-practice document and disseminating it (Rural Health Information Hub, 2022).
