Good afternoon Professor and classmates,
As the lecture states there are cues that we can take from people’s page to assist with understanding the type of person he or she is, but from personal experience I believe that it varies on how accurate this is for several reasons. First off, is this a personal page, or is it a page that is created to market themselves as an influencer or business? This changes things dramatically, as some of those pages aren’t even managed by the person who the page belongs to. If it is managed by the owner of the page like mine was, there are things that can be picked up on like sense of humor, etc. but you will not have a full understanding of that person. Because my page was a law enforcement fitness page, there were dangers as it pertained toward posting about my family. For those reasons I did not post about my family in order to keep them protected, so if you were to judge my “influencer” page, you’d likely see a narcissistic gym enthusiast/cop/veteran, who is single with no kids. Compared to my personal page I use to have which displayed a family man who cared about nothing than just that, family. In the end, I personally do not believe that you can fully understand someone through their social media account, therefore they should not be completely judged by it.

Good afternoon Professor and classmates,
I think that it is basic human nature to want to be liked and viewed in a good way. Most people do not want to be hated, and many of us avoid confrontation when we can. We need this reassurance of positivity in a way to allow ourselves to feel better about the things that maybe we are not as proud of. If we can display ourselves in a manner that is appropriate and well-liked by our peers, it provides a sense of satisfaction, same as if you were to accomplish a positive task or get a good grade in your class.
I think that the online world via social media world is a hub for a sense of fitting in. We have the opportunity to think about what we are going to say because it is not an in-person conversation. We may have a certain opinion about a topic that in person we must answer quickly, and it may not be the answer that is the popular one, or the one that will allow us to fit in. Online we can read our influencers answers and opinions, which I believe will commonly persuade many to change their answers. As we have spoken throughout this course, people are influenced by their peers and will commonly go against what they believe, just to be liked or appreciated. In the end, it can change who we are as people because we are so focused on being liked that we are not true with ourselves.
