1. Family Influence!
The sky is the limit here, as you will need to think through who you are based on your parent’s (parents’) or caregiver’s (caregivers’) influence and the kind of home in which you grew up. This is not the time to affirm or bash your parents; you should just be honest. There are no perfect families, but certainly our families mark us greatly. If you need some structure here, write about four strengths of your family and four weaknesses, and how these have formed you. This essay should be 1-2 pages.
2. Write a 1-2 page essay that critically evaluates three different types of influences on drug use that may lead to abuse:
Psychological influences
Biological influences
Social-cultural influences
Be advised that the purpose of this assignment is to extend your understanding of the factors that influence drug abuse in the United States. Incorporate any statistics that you find on the internet to lend support to the influences you discuss. Cite to all sources using APA format.
3a. Classical Conditioning
Provide an example of classical conditioning that you see in a real-world setting. You may use the internet or your own experiences to construct an appropriate example. You may be guided to search for applications of conditioning in therapeutic settings, on television, or in the classroom. Annotate your examples, incorporating appropriate terminology to describe the elements of classical conditioning (neutral stimulus, unconditioned stimulus, unconditioned response, conditioned stimulus, conditioned response).
3b. Operant Conditioning
Observe either television or theatrical movies to find an example of operant conditioning. Once you have obtained your example, write at least a paragraph describing the episode in the appropriate operant terms (positive/negative reinforcement; positive/negative punishment). Include a reference for the source of your example.
4. In a 1-2 page essay, describe the virtues attained at each stage of Erik Erikson’s eight psychosocial stages of identity development. Discuss obstacles that may make it challenging to obtain those virtues (personally or for others).
