Research your chosen procedure in your Medical Library and online using multiple textbooks and articles that surgeons or surgical residents would use to learn about the surgical patient.
The goals of your research include: becoming an expert on your chosen procedure; digging deep to gain surgeon-level knowledge; and gain new insights into your surgical patient.
Your paper should be written based 90% on your deep-dig research and 10%, if any, based on your experience.
Research your paper (you may want to photocopy your material, so you can go back to it at home); take notes on information or quotes you want to use in the paper; and write the name of the author and the page number so you can properly cite the reference without having to try and find it again.
Download the document titled The Surgical Patient Template. Save the Template to your computer and rename it ‘RP210 Name of Your Procedure Surgical Patient (Your Name)’. Write your paper inside the template. It contains the approved format. So, don’t change anything about it such as the headers, margins, font, text size, etc.
The Template is also designed to guide and organize your content. Strictly follow the instructions in the template in order to incorporate your content. Delete the instructions when you no longer need them.
The first page of the document contains an evaluation form. This is for faculty use only.
You paper is to be exhaustive. It must be at least 5 pages of text – not including the Evaluation and Bibliography pages. If you add pictures to your paper (encouraged), they will not be counted as part of the 5 content pages.
Reread your paper and edit it for readability and clarity. Use your computer’s Spell/Grammar Check function to alert you to misspelled words and/or grammatical errors. Make appropriate revisions.
When complete, email your report to ************************* AS AN ATTACHMENT! In the subject field of your email write the name of your report and your name. Write a brief note in the text area of your email.
If your instructor deems it necessary, your paper will be returned to you for revision before awarding a passing score.
You may begin work on your report any time after enrolling. But it must be completed, turned in, graded, and passed before receiving your final Certificate of Completion. Don’t wait until your graduation date is near. If you do, you may need to purchase an extension just to get your paper graded or revised
