Research Paper Topic: Select a serial killer to base your research paper on.
Students are to answer the questions and follow the guidelines listed below on page 3 of the
attached research paper document.
Students will have an opportunity to write a research paper on a serial killer of their choice.
Please be sure to include any scholarly journal articles and supporting documents that you may
find during your research in the reference section.
Do not forget to cite appropriately.
The paper will be a scholarly effort in APA format and a minimum of seven pages in length,
including the cover, and references. A minimum of three scholarly/academic references must be
cited. Additional references may also be utilized for this paper (Internet, magazine, newspaper,
etc.). Research paper must be submitted through Brightspace Turnitin. The research paper will be
assessed using a Research Paper Rubric. Your paper will be on a serial killer. It will comprise of seven pages. You must apply a theory
from the textbook to the serial killer. Your paper should be double-spaced and cited using APA
Format. Your papers should be uploaded onto CANVAS. They will not be accepted via email or
in paper form. The papers should answer the following questions:
1) What theory applies to the serial killer you selected?
2) What was their childhood like?
3) Were there any precursors?
4) Did childhood behavior reflect problems?
5) What was their adult life like?
6) Did they finish high school/college?
7) Were they ever diagnosed with a mental disorder?
8) Did they ever receive treatment?
9) How many victims?
10) Were they caught?
11) Are they still alive? Or did they die differently than their sentence? Or were they
sentenced to death and executed in prison?
