Discussion3: Organization Structure
You may take for granted how organizations are set up. If you have worked in a similar industry over time, you may notice similarities as to how things are done. In contrast, moving to a different industry may allow you to see a different structure.
Week 1 Discussion Post
Using your text, and other college-level resources, explore organizational design.
Research organizational design in your preferred industry.
This post should be 1-2 paragraphs in length (at least 100 words). Since you are engaging in research, be sure to cite in the body of the post and add a reference list in APA format. NOTE: Failure to use research with accompanying citations to support content will result in reduced scoring “Level 2-Developing” for Assignment-Driven Criteria, Critical Thinking, and Writing Mechanics and Referencing on the grading rubric.
Week 1 Interactive Response to Classmates
Required Interactive Response to be made during week 1:
Select another classmate’s post on organization design, and compare or contrast it to your experience at a particular workplace. You do not have to share the name of the organization.
Your reply should be one paragraph in length (or about 50 words) and must be substantive in nature. Do not simply say “I agree” or “That is great.” Specify why and be detailed in your explanation. You may use research in your responses, but it is not required.
Week 2 Discussion Post
Using your text, and other college-level resources, explore virtual organizational design.
Research geographically diverse examples of virtual leadership in your industry.
This post should be 1-2 paragraphs in length (at least 100 words). Since you are engaging in research, be sure to cite in the body of the post and add a reference list in APA format.
Week 2 Interactive Response to Classmates
Required Interactive Response to be made during week 2:
Select a virtual organizational design post made by one classmate and contrast it with what you shared.
Your reply should be one paragraph in length (or about 50 words) and must be substantive in nature. Do not simply say “I agree” or “That is great.” Specify why and be detailed in your explanation. You may use research in your responses, but it is not required.
In your own words, respond to the discussion and comments of classmates. Grades will be based on effectual, concise, and interactive feedback. The excessive use of quotes will directly impact performance since this indicates a lack of comprehension and shows that you may not have mastered the concepts.
Grading Note:
At Trident University International, rubrics are used for grading. These rubrics specify the points available for each component of an assignment. Points are earned based on the level of work submitted. The rubric below is used for discussions. Rubrics for Cases and SLPs are found on the Dropbox link for those assignments.
