For Major Writing Project #3, you will craft a thesis-driven argument that is supported by research. Your argument should be derived from/directly related to your research. This is to say that the argument you are making is one that you can make because you have done this research and you have research to support this argument.
Thanks to your work in MWP #2, you have six potential sources and a tentative thesis statement. These are all options to use in MWP #3, along with any work or research you’ve done for this class. You need not use this thesis or any of the sources, but of course, this would significantly lessen your workload. You should expect to revise your thesis to make it more complex and to fit your essay’s content. You should also expect to do more research, especially with your argument type in mind. And, you should stick with your topic from MWP #2; trying to start anew at this point is very unadvisable.
In order to ground your essay in peer-reviewed work, at least one of your sources must be scholarly. Additionally, your essay should include a counter-argument, represented by at least one of your sources. You should consider this counter-argument meaningfully and actively respond to it, but you are not limited to the kind of claim/argument you make, e.g. definition, causal, proposal, position, or evaluation.
