Requesting Writer 433306 ,
Hypothesis Testing: Correlation/Regression & Chi-Square.
The Data Analysis Project (DAP 3) write TWO hypotheses with variables of your choosing , choose your interval variable (and another) OR both your nominal and ordinal variables.. We are using the General Social Survey (GSS) and the SPSS program to provide our data and statistics. This project consists of doing TWO hypothesis test, a Correlation/Regression analysis and a Chi-Square, so two test are required, please do each one separately.
Follow these directions to do the analysis:
1- Be familiar with the GSS data 2022
2- Look at the files on the DAP SPSS results page so that you know what your options are, Please check the uploaded files.
Look at the variable names in the titles of the files and choose a test that uses variables that are interesting to you.
Download the file(s) you choose so that you know where and what they are. Open the file, find the page you want and “print” or save only that page – or delete all the other pages! Be sure to save it! When doing one of each type of test, open up the other file and choose one test result to use. Be sure you are not doing two of the same type of test!. One Correlation/Regression and one Chi-Square.
3- Open up and write your results in a Word file, so that you can work on it over a few days.
When you are writing your draft:
4- Follow the outline below to write up your test.
Follow the five steps of Hypothesis Testing and do each test write-up separately#!!!!
Make sure you do the full interpretation as needed. Refer to the Hypothesis Testing Interpretation sheet.
5- Remember that your goal in Step 5 below – Interpretation – is to put into everyday words whatever that relationship is (or is not) between our variables.
6- second hypothesis test should be the other type of test . A second test of the same type will not be graded.
Follow this outline to write up your findings:
1- Introduction – briefly introduce what you are analyzing – what two sets of variables will you be testing?
2- Hypothesis Test #1 (choose one of your tests)
A-State your H1 and H0
B-What is the test statistic?
C-What is the critical value and what did you use to find it (df, alpha)?
D-What is your decision about the null hypothesis?
E- Interpret in everyday words what is going on with your variables?
3- for the second test, follow the same format: Hypothesis Test #2 (use a different test)
A-State your H1 and H0
B-What is the test statistic?
C-What is the critical value and what did you use to find it (df, alpha)?
D-What is your decision about the null hypothesis?
E-Interpret in everyday words what is going on with your variables?
4- Conclusions – a brief summary of what you learned and how it might inform us about people and society.
5- Appendix – attach the pdfs of your hypothesis tests.
AGAIN, Hypothesis Test #1 & Test 2 each one separately
– Steps 1-4
1 – state the research and null hypotheses
2 – test statistic
3 – Critical Value of the test statistic
4 – Decision on the null hypothesis
AND , Hypothesis Test #1 & Test 2 each one separately- Interpretation
A full description of the relationship of the variables is clearly described in everyday words that most anyone could understand and in which they could learn something about people and society.
Conclusions, Brief conclusion describing what we learn from these two tests.
Appendix – hypothesis test file(s) Test result files are attached.
On this page, you will find the files that contain hypothesis test results.
Open the file with the type of test you have chosen, Correlation/Regression or Chi-Square.
Look at the test results and choose one test that uses variables that are interesting to you.
Save or download the page with the test result your want to use. (Open the file, find the page you want and “print” only that page – or delete all the other pages!) If you chose a correlation/regression, the second one should be a chi-square, and vice-versa.
Here are the test results!
Correlation/Regression test results , two interval variables in each test, This file has seven Correlation/Regression results between the following variable combinations: Age AND TV hours, WWW (internet) hours
Education AND Age of the respondent when their kids were born, the number of children the respondent has, Respondent’s income, TV hours, WWW (internet) hours
Chi-Square and related stats test results , nominal and ordinal variables in each test, This file has 27 Chi-Square results between the following variable combinations:
Health AND Social class, Race, and Partner & living situation
Happiness AND Social class, Race, and Partner & living situation
Life AND Social class
Fear (of walking alone in their neighborhood) AND Social class and Race
Religious person AND Race
Spiritual person AND Race

Suicide opinion AND Social class
Gun ownership AND Social class, Race, and Partner & living situation

The opinions include: abortion is ok 1) for any reason, 2) in case of birth defects, 3) health of the woman is in danger, 4) they don’t want any more kids, 5) in case of rape.
