Reflections are useful for both students and for instructors. Reflections provide an opportunity for students to explore the “big picture” – ways in which ideas and concepts from the course are linked to their broad interests in research and practice. Reflections offer instructors with feedback and point to gaps in learning that may be addressed in the future. Students will write a short 2-page reflection on their experiences in the course.
I am  attatching my final case study and class readings for your information to write a Mediocre reflection essay.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is Part II of a two-semester introductory course in International Comparative Education (ICEd), which is a dynamic and fast-growing field of scholarly research and professional practice. Scholars and practitioners in the field explore educational issues in comparative and international contexts; they examine the relationship between education and cultural, economic, political, and social processes; and promote strategic approaches to improving education and development worldwide. This course introduces students to the field focusing on theories, issues, methods, and skills. It is designed to meet the needs and interests of those who plan to work as educators, administrators, policy analysts, or researchers in educational institutions and/or development organizations.
The first part of the course (Fall) focuses on debates in two central areas of the field: globalization and development. The second part (Spring) focuses on critical analysis of the importance of education and considerations of education as a private or public good. Throughout the year, we will pay attention to the roles of international, regional, national, and local actors, including governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and United Nations (UN) agencies with regard to how they influence the field, particularly in low-income contexts. Students must have completed ITSF 4580.
▮ LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this term, students will be able to:
Use appropriate terms and definitions to discuss key issues and trends in ICEd;
Understand the economic, political, social, and cultural dimensions of education within and across national boundaries;
Recognize the role of international, national, and local actors and institutions in educational planning and practice;
Understand, discuss and critique prevailing assumptions about education and development;
Apply theory and appropriate methodology to analyzing key issues and trends in ICEd;
Employ academic writing to present and support arguments in both writing and public speaking.
