Many people are reactive or expect opportunities to be handed to them, but sometimes a person needs to make opportunities for themselves to reach their goals. Being active in your career leads to a new level of professionalism of “doers” rather than “waiters” for elevating the profession by being proactive. This week we will focus on strategies to reach identified goals and advance respiratory care overall.
For this week’s project:
1. Reflect on your professional goals within the next 5 years
2. Describe a professional goal you have that you can obtain within the next 5 years (exclude earning your BSRC)
3. Discuss why this goal is important to you
4. Distinguish one to two obstacles to achieving your goal.
5. Identify at least two strategies to overcome these obstacles.
6. Discuss one activity you could partake in to advance the respiratory care profession (i.e., quality improvement, research, presenting outcomes to others, participate in AARC open forum).
7. Conclusion
