Assignment: Devise a plan to solve Drugs in America.
Include in this discussion:
1. your specific plan to solve the problems with drugs in America
2. explanation of the type of Intervention (Supply Reduction, Demand Reduction, Harm Reduction – refer to the Intervention content page)
3. explanation of the type of user targeted by this intervention (refer to Reading Report #2)-Assignment: Describe the 4 types of drug users.
Include in your discussion their opportunity and occasion of use, career development as a user, and the effects and consequences of their use.
4. explanation of the Theoretical Perspective behind this approach (Biological, Psychological, Sociological – refer to Reading Report #3)Faupel talks about the three theoretical explanations for substance use (chapter 5). This assignment requires you to choose ONE of these three perspectives and explain how that perspective understands substance use/abuse.
In your report, you will need to describe:
the factors leading to the origins of use
the factors that perpetuate use to the point of abuse
5. explanation of the Sociological Theory supporting this intervention (Structural-Functionalism, Conflict, Symbolic Interactionism – refer to Three Sociological Theories page)
6. explanation of how this intervention alters or solidifies the societal view of drugs and the user of drugs
