For your final paper in this class, you will be using your media literacy skills and the knowledge gained in this course to analyze one piece of media of your choosing: EITHER a film, a television series, a music CD or series of music videos, or a video game. You should not analyze multiple forms of media. Stick to 1 of these categories. Your analysis can be completed in the form of a written paper (at least 3 full pages) submitted through SafeAssign or a video. Specific instructions for each analysis can be found under Analysis Options.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT use any of the media sources you have discussed in previous assignments, such as the Disney films that were analyzed in the Mickey Mouse Monopoly documentary, and do not analyze either of the pieces of media in the examples I have provided (Captain America and Harry Potter).
please make sure you put in the necessary time and effort on this assignment and that it meets ALL requirements, including length and content.
Analysis Options
Option 1: Written Paper — You will submit a 3-to-5 page paper, using 11-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced with 1-inch margins in Microsoft Word. Note: Microsoft Office, which includes Word, is available for free on the Dallas College website. If your paper is only 3 pages, it must be 3 FULL pages. Not meeting the minimum length of 3 FULL PAGES will result in an automatic loss of 75 points (half value) before the content is graded.
If you choose to write a paper for your media content analysis, you should carefully read the full instructions here:
