The letters and memos should look authentic, each being formatted correctly: date, letterhead/address of the sender, name and address of the receiver, appropriate greetings, etc.

A. Select and complete any two from 1-3:

Choose one of the following, and write a sales letter addressed to an appropriate reader on why he or she should

use a particular catering service
have their cars repaired at a specific garage
give their real estate business to a particular agency
Write a complaint letter about one of the following:
an error in your utility, mobile phone, credit card, or Internet provider bill
discourteous service you received on an airplane, train, or bus
a shipment that arrived late and damaged
an insurance payment to you that is $357.00 less than it should be
a public television station’s decision to discontinue a particular series
equipment that arrived with missing or defective parts
misleading representation by a salesperson.
incorrect or misleading information given on a website.
B. Complete the following:
You work in one of the following companies/industries: law firm, real estate agency, travel agency, caterer, health care, child care, security (data and/or private), etc.
Write a memo (be specific about dates, places, times, and reasons) to your boss saying that you will be out of town two days next week and three days the following week for one of the following reasons:
to visit another company your company is thinking of taking over,
to investigate an issue with a client
to look at some new office space for a branch your firm is thinking of opening in a city 500 miles away,
to attend a conference sponsored by a professional society,
to meet with other employees for a planning session.
