1. Starvation Relief Argument:
Undernutrition is a contributory factor in the death of 3.1 million children under five every year. This should concern every thoughtful human being. According to the World Health Organization, hunger is the single gravest threat to the world’s public health. It is likely we have the means to eliminate this threat without sacrificing something of comparable moral worth. We have a moral obligation to end world hunger, then, assuming that we have the means to do so without sacrificing something of equal moral worth. The WHO also states that starvation is by far the biggest contributor to child mortality. I think most would agree that the threat of death by starvation is a bad thing. If we can prevent something bad from happening without sacrificing something of comparable moral worth, then we should certainly do so.
2. Mapping the Argument: Fill in each part of the argument below with the appropriate sentence from the argument above. (Each is worth 5 points for a total of 40 points).

Statement:
1. Write a two-three paragraph (approximately 200 words) response as if someone made this argument to you. Begin by evaluating the form of argument itself (Does the conclusion follow from the premises? Are the premises acceptable? Are there any faults in the reasoning? What are the strengths and/or weaknesses of the argument?) Then, after considering their claim about starvation relief, what is your response?
