Instructions
• This speech is a guaranteed 100% by just doing all the work below.
• Review Chapters 2-4 and take note on content, pertaining to these 4 theories.
o Personal Communication Analysis
o The Communication Process
o Reducing Anxiety
o Active Listening
• Watch both movies: “Contagion” and “Pandemic” and complete your analysis.
• Your analysis is called a descriptive analysis, which has 3 parts.
o Part 1 – A summary description of the movie scene used
o Part 2 – A basic description of the small group communication theory or idea
o Part 3 – A breakdown of the movie scene, using the theory or idea
NOTE: There’s going to be some overlap and repetition here, but that’s how you show that you’re learning.
• Watch the video on “How to Create an Outline.”
• Create a typed outline with your content by using the blank outline on p. 2.
HINT: When creating an outline, go by one movie scene at a time. For example, Main Point #1 is movie scene used, small group theory or idea, and then breakdown. Same thing for MP #2 and so on until all theory or ideas have been shown.
• Upload your outline to Canvas under “Speech 2 Outline.”
• Practice your speech at least three times before you record yourself.
• Record your speech onto a device like a computer or cell phone.
• Upload your video and outline to Canvas under “Speech 2 Recording.”
o Speech uploads can be difficult for some so try .MOV files for best results.
o If this doesn’t work, upload your speech to youtube.com, set it as “Unlisted,” and send me the link through Canvas email.
o If your file doesn’t upload to email, resave it under a lower resolution.
