Purpose: The purposes of the research critiques are to develop critical analysis skills for reading research, and to develop a professional and research writing style.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this series of research critique assignments, the student should be able to:
discuss key elements in each section of a research article
write original critical analyses with an appropriate professional writing style
develop confidence as a consumer of research.
Instructions
Write a 1 – 2-page paper (double-spaced) that critiques the introduction/literature review section of the assigned article.
Your paper should adhere to the guidelines of the APA 7th edition Publication Manual. See additional resources available on Canvas.
Your paper must be submitted to Turnitin (link on Canvas) by the due date. Please abide by the university policies for academic honesty. Possible violations of academic honesty will be addressed seriously. Late submissions will have points deducted.
Your paper will be graded for content and writing style. Please see the separate grading rubric.

Here are some considerations for critiquing an intro/literature review. You are not required to address every one of these questions. You should use these questions to guide your critique and select the appropriate ones to the assigned article.
Is the purpose of the research study clear?
Is the research problem clearly identified?
Is the review logically organized?
Does it offer a balanced critical analysis of the literature?
is the majority of the literature of recent origin?
is it mainly from primary sources and of an empirical nature?
Has a conceptual or theoretical framework been identified?
Is the framework adequately described?
is the framework appropriate?
Have alms and objectives, a research question, or a hypothesis been identified?
If so, are they clearly stated?
Do they reflect the information presented in the literature review?
