Over the past few decades, the prevalence of obesity has increased significantly worldwide, affecting individuals indiscriminately, including those with intellectual disabilities (ID) (Flygare Wallén et al., 2018). According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the global prevalence of obesity has nearly tripled since 1975. By 2016, over 650 million adults, or approximately 10.4% of the world’s adult population, were considered obese (WHO, 2021). However, there is still a lack of comprehensive research on the evaluation and effectiveness of interventions specifically tailored to reducing obesity among individuals with ID.
