Public health gathers data from a variety of sources, additional opportunities to expand the data can be found in electronic health records and health information exchanges. Savel & Foldy (2012) state, “public health informatics is a subdomain of the larger field known as biomedical or health informatics.” There are several databases that are used to provide and improve community health outcomes.

After reviewing the articles concerning pubic health data, statistics, and surveillance. Visit the CDC site and prepare a descriptive report of the informatics based on community health tools available on the site. Select one topic from the science at CDC under data and statistics. Describe the data, tools, and information obtained for that topic. Include the following information in your report.

Describe the trends and indicators identified under the category and tools used to gather the data.
Identify the social determinants and their impact on the topic selected.
Explain how healthcare administrators can apply the data/information to support community health?
