Case Study: Drought Emergency Response Strategy
You have been tasked by your water utility with developing a drought response plan and ordinance.
To get started, research two organizations that have adopted a drought response strategy and drought ordinance, one agency a regional wholesaler of water supply (for example San Diego County Water Authority or Metropolitan Water District) and the other a retail water purveyor. Next, summarize the actions taken by each of the agencies and the key provisions of the Ordinances. Also describe the public communications aspects of their plans. Do you believe they meet the intent of the State’s requirement for Shortage Contingency Plans? How will you apply what you have learned from this research to your recommendations for your own retail water utility?
