You are to write a one to two-page paper that will include the following:
• Very brief description of the main characters and plot of the movie “Words on Bathroom Walls 2020” (intro paragraph)
• Provide a DSM-5 diagnosis for the character supported by information from the movie. Include main symptoms or presenting problem the character is struggling with the most. (second paragraph)
• Propose a treatment plan for this character (third and fourth paragraphs). Your plan will be based on what research suggests may work for that particular diagnosis and/or symptoms. Plan ought to include the following:
o Two to three long term treatment goals (should be linked to the presenting problem and symptoms)
o An example of one short term goal for each long-term goal
o The treatment strategies to be employed and why you chose these strategies
o Identify any risk factors for harm to self or other, such as with suicide. How is this worked into your plan
• Include in your responses context factors you get from the film (this can be a separate paragraph, or can be incorporated in your existing paragraphs). For example, consider how the following factors may inform your treatment planning and approach: racial/ethnic group of the character, age, history (e.g.: chronic or acute sx history, was there trauma and what type, suicide attempts or ideation, etc.), education level, supports (family, friends, etc.), relationship discord, and character’s strengths. You can consider other factors.
• Make sure that you write in narrative form. That means complete sentences written into paragraphs (i.e.: no bullet-point lists)
• This is not a research paper, so do not include citations. But you are allowed to refer to a source if it helps you to make your point.
