Prompt: For this assignment, you will choose a literary text (a book, a short story, a biography, a speech, an essay . . .) and argue that your analysis of the text is valid and should be considered.
You can do this by using either one, two, or each method below:
Three methods for analyzing the text.
• The text itself. Trace the development and expression of themes, characters, and language through the work. How do they help to create particular meaning, tone, or effects?
• Your own response as a reader. Explore the way the text affects you. Read closely, noticing how the elements of the text shape your responses, both intellectual and emotional. How has the author evoked your response?
• Context. Analyze the text as part of some larger context—as part of a certain time or place in history or of a certain culture; or as one of many other texts like it, a representative of a genre.

The Legacy of Micheal Jordan
People watch basketball all around the world and over time, there has been players that have entered the greatest of all time (GOAT) conversations, but the most important player of all that has been talked about, is Micheal Jeffrey Jordan. His game was elite, and no one could stop him on the court. He played through adversity like the flu game, and he scored 38 points while he was sick. Most players would stay home if they had the flu, but Micheal Jordan different. He had that dog mentality in him that no one could ever reach.
Heading One Heading levels 1-3 get their own paragraph, as shown. Headings 4 and 5 are run-in headings used at the beginning of the paragraph. Include a period at the end of a run-in heading. Double-space all text, including headings. Use descriptive headings to help readers identify sections of your paper.
Heading Two
If needed, you can include consecutive paragraphs with their own headings, where appropriate. For APA Style formatting, type your own references. To correctly format a reference page according to APA Style guidelines, see page four.
Heading Three
When citing any quote or text that consists of three or more lines, APA guidelines call for block-quote format:
Create a new paragraph to begin the block-quote. Double-space each line of text, as you have done with headings, section labels, and paragraphs of paraphrased text. To correctly format a block-quote, indent each line of the text to one-half inch. Remember to always cite your source.
Last Name (Year) citations can be used when writing a paper in narrative form. Parenthetical citations are also appropriate (Last Name, Year).
