Accounting is called the language of business. It is how we interpret the financial well-being of an organization. The value proposition is at the heart of competitive advantage. How we measure value becomes extremely important.
What is the true value of an organization? Pick any company that you are interested in and study its financial statements. Specifically, compare its net income vs. cash flow, book value vs. market value of stockholders’ equity (market capitalization), and share your observations with the class.

This decade has been even more challenging than ever.
This year we have seen continued murders of black and brown and indigenous people. We have seen children ripped away from their parents and then, we have seen hundreds of children “orphaned” by ICE.
We have grieved for Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. We have lost famous Congressmen, Representativs John Lewis and Elijah Cummings, may their memories, strengths and focus on justice live on in each of us.
We must do better to have real change, to have honest and difficult conversations.
