The Portfolio Project covers the entire session and will provide you with experience in portfolio management and analysis. You will create and track a mock portfolio of securities investments.
Early in Week 1, you will be given a list of companies to select for your stock investments and a hypothetical amount of $10,000. On Tuesday or Wednesday of Week 1, select 5-10 stocks to carry throughout the course. Make sure to note the purchase price for your stocks.
On Wednesday of every week, you must track and record the weekly performance of your portfolio. You can use Excel or another spreadsheet software. Calculate the performance by multiplying the number of shares purchased by the stock price on the Wednesday of Weeks 1-7.
Throughout the session, you must keep a weekly journal where you record and analyze the performance of your portfolio and record significant firm, market, index, economic, political, and global factors/events provided by other sources of information to help you understand movements in your portfolio’s performance. In Weeks 2 and 5, there are Portfolio check-in Dropbox folders worth 10 and 30 points, respectively.
Your journal must
Include portfolio data collected during Weeks 1-7.
Include more than five sources of information to substantiate the analysis.
Be formatted according to the current edition of APA style and must include a title page, body, and reference page.
Must have a body of at least seven pages but no more than ten. Page count does not include the title and reference pages.
Be double-spaced, have 1-inch margins, and use a current-edition APA-approved font type and size.
Be saved and submitted as a Word (doc., docx.) or RTF (Rich Text Format) file.
The Portfolio Project is worth 140 and is broken into three separate Dropbox assignments as follows:
