After viewing the PowerPoint slide show I presented to the professor last week for topic five, the big takeaway is that the development of an ASC for our hospital, Summit Health and Wellness, is critical to the success of the organization. the development of an ASC is a longevity strategy, where without the development of an ASC, the hospital will not be able to reach anticipated demand based off the community that we serve and their rate of growth.
there were many barriers to consider in developing the ASC. some barriers are within control, such as repeat costs, anticipating depreciation of equipment, controlling staffing levels, and maintaining services that sustain revenue. Likewise, many external forces can impact the business plan. external forces weather and political incidents global outbreaks/pandemics, Cost of resources increasing, permit delays, and issues of crime.
Developing an ASC is critical to the success of the organization. therefore, halting construction would not be the primary alteration of the business plan. instead, that organization would cut back on noncritical costs, such as volunteer and sponsorship events, non-critical care that has low revenue intake, and reduction of research. Each of these will be laid out in the business plan as being part of Summit Health’s mission. By altering these aspects of the business plan, the big picture, the development of an ASC, will continue and therefore the organization will be successful in resuming the services that previously had before cuts.
By not altering the business plan as costs increase, the organization will fall short in the long term. by not making adjustments, unfortunately, the community overall suffers as staff would be less likely to remain at the hospital as the hospital does not innovate, the community prefers to not visit the hospital as equipment continues to not be upgraded and our partners will be disappointed as safety becomes less focused
