Women were portrayed in the past as homemakers, the ones who stayed home and raised the children, cleaned, cooked and took care of the home while the man of the house worked and was the breadwinner. Women wore makep and were in charge of being exactly that: a woman, mother and wife. They were not seen as hard workers like the men were. Men were dominant. The propaganda and articles showed and explained a revolutionary change amidst the Stalin period where women were given the same opportunities as men.
They were given the opportunity to make as much as men. This also opened doors for the women to teach as explained in the video. These women were looking for illiterate people to teach them how to read and write so that they can move forward with their education and actually make something of themselves. This related to the women in the capitalist west by granting opportunities to women that they never had before.
Less discriminatory laws, more rights and more opportunities were also given to women in the capitalist countries. The women in the video only spoke the truth in detail of what a rewarding time this was for them. They seemed excited to spealk about the changes that they experienced, especially when speaking about the illiterate students thet had and what great lengths they went through to learn how to read and right. Their stories confirmed that this change was what was needed to get more done and even create more to grow the future.
