This is a team assignment and ALL members of your team will be expected to participate. The team grade for this assessment could be adjusted for an individual team member should they, according to their team, not make the expected contribution in the preparing of the assignment.
Please note that it is your responsibility to make contact with your team. Excuses like ‘I emailed my team but they never responded’ is not a valid excuse and if you fail to participate at all you will be removed from the group and given an F for the assignment. If you have any problems contacting your group you must let me know and I will take action. However, this must be done as soon as possible and not a few days before the assignment is due when all the group have already done the work.
You will be graded for your participation based on the feedback you get from your peers so make sure you contribute and you engage.

Now that your team has chosen a social enterprise to review and evaluate you need to do the following for your team assignment and your teams report must include:
The social enterprises value proposition (include both social value proposition and impact measures that is – what are the key activities that the social enterprise is involved with and what recommendations will you make for them to add to creating even more social impact?)
Key Resources and Capabilities (What resources and capabilities will you think the social enterprise will need to run your recommended activities to increase social impact? People, finance, access?)
Partners & key stakeholders (Who are the essential groups you will need to target to deliver your program?)
What strategic innovation would you recommend? Is there any scope for information technology usage or digital transformation?
Key Activities (What program and non-program activities will your organization be carrying out? Which will you keep in-house and which will you rely on external expertise from and how do you see these changing in the future)
Cost Structure (What do you envisage to be your biggest expenditure areas? How do they change as you scale up? How would you invest any profits?) – Note: This is only a preliminary exercise, you need to come up with an approach; not a full financial feasibility analysis with exact figures and so on is not required. However, it is expected that you provide some detail of what you are proposing to spend money on.
Segments (Who is the customer, i.e. who are the organizations or people who will pay for this service? Who is the beneficiary of this initiative? What do your customers want to get out of this initiative?)
Channels (How are you reaching your beneficiaries and customers?)

A well laid out Word Document the initiative and covering the points mentioned above.

Be creative in your recommendations – use relevant elements of our lectures to apply your thinking. Remember social enterprises are not profit seeking, but they have to deliver a value proposition and spend their money wisely! So, do not think that social enterprises do not have to follow the typical path for-profit organizations have to follow and hence they are exempt from thinking value creation, innovation, use of technology etc…
