Select a childrenâs book appropriate for the grade level of your class that is both engaging and motivating. Choose from titles available in your school library or from books already in your classroom collection. In a written document, provide a detailed description of the following components:
Standards Addressed: Identify the academic standards aligned with the content of the chosen book.
Large Group or Small Group Extension Activity: Design an extension activity that builds upon the themes or concepts introduced in the book, suitable for either a large or small group setting.
Related Poem, Finger Play, or Song: Include a poem, finger play, or song that complements the book and reinforces its themes.
Public Domain Childrenâs Website or Software: Recommend a childrenâs website or software that extends learning beyond the book, providing additional interactive experiences related to its content.
Materials and/or Activity for a Center: Specify materials and activities to enhance a learning center based on the book, encouraging hands-on exploration and discovery.
âCarry Overâ Activity for the Home: Suggest an activity that students can engage in at home with their families to reinforce learning from the book.
Reference for the Book and Other Activities/Resources: Provide the full reference for the chosen book and any additional activities or resources used, formatted in APA style.
Discuss how this activity integrates into various disciplines, demonstrating how the themes, concepts, and skills introduced in the book can be connected to subjects such as language arts, math, science, social studies, and the arts, enriching students’ learning experiences across multiple domains.
