Personal Mission Statement Guidelines
The following guidelines are required for this assignment:
Name, Prof. name, class, and date go at the top like any other assignment
Keep it simple and clear. The best mission statements tend to be about 7 sentences long. Beneath your brief mission statement, you will elaborate on each statement in a paragraph (That means 7 paragraphs by the way). Each paragraph should consists of 5-7 sentences, in a well developed paragraph, written in complete sentences rather than a bulleted list. Your final mission statement will be a minimum of 750 words total.
Your mission statement should touch upon what you want to focus on and who you want to become as a person (character) in this part of your life. Think about specific actions, behaviors, habits and qualities that would have a significant positive impact in this part of your life over the next one to three years.
Make sure your mission statement is positive. Instead of saying what you don’t want to do or don’t want to be, say what you do want to do or become. Find the positive alternatives to any negative statements.
Include positive behaviors, character traits and values that you consider particularly important and want to develop further.
Revise, edit, and proofread your draft before you submit it.
Important Note: As usual, late work loses a letter grade each day it is late. After 1 week, the assignment will receive a 0. See the course policy on the syllabus regarding late work for more details. Submit your formatted paper in Word or compatible with Word, so that it is compatible with Canvas. Unformatted work is not accepted.

“Important: As always, unformatted work is not accepted. Papers must be typed. Remember, you must submit your paper as a Word document or other compatible doc. If you use Pages or GoogleDocs, your document must be “export to Word” or saved as compatible with Word respectively (in the order already mentioned). Emailed assignments, URL links, attachments to the assignment or in Assignment comments, invitations to edit an online document from the Cloud , JPGs, et cetera will be given a 0, so please contact me BEFORE (not after) the assignment is due if you have problems or questions about submitting your work. Likewise, do not wait until the last minute to submit your essay as Murphy’s Law (a supposed law of nature, expressed in various humorous popular sayings, to the effect that anything that can go wrong will go wrong) is likely to take effect.” Late work will lose a after grade each day it is late (Monday-Sunday). Submitting unedited work before the due date, and then subsequently resubmitting an edited document after the due date does NOT count as a work that was submitted on time. In fact, it is the very definition of a late paper. All revision, editing, and proofreading MUST take place before the published due date, or it will be considered late.
