Part I: Observation & Reflection Observation was done in a kindergarten classroo

April 29, 2024

Part I: Observation & Reflection
Observation was done in a kindergarten classroom. Based on this observation,  part one of this paper should include the following:
Reflect on how the teacher demonstrates the integration of math and science. (Topic: Weather, charts and graphs were used to integrate math.)
Reflect on the integration of technology into the lessons. (Smartboard, document camera, chromebooks are used.)
Reflect on the kindergarten children’s understanding of the lesson goal/outcome and the skills that are associated with the goal/outcome.
Identify special needs kindergarten children (i.e. IEP, 504s, struggling readers, ELL) and describe their primary learning needs. Address assistance provided for these kindergarten children’s needs during the literacy lesson. Identify two activities that would help kindergarten children meet the goal of the lesson and include a rationale for using these activities. (The class I observed has 3 struggling readers and one student who is suspected to be autistic but is too young to be tested.)
Part 2: Planning, Teaching, & Reflection
A lesson plan which integrates math and science is attached.
This lesson was taught in a kindergarten classroom. Part two of this paper is a reflection of that lesson and should include the following:
Describe how needs of the identified special kindergarten children are used to guide instruction as the lesson is planned.
(Special needs students were supported through scaffolded instruction – I do, we do, you do.)
Describe how the children were actively involved in demonstrating the strategies needed to accomplish the goal and outcome of the lesson.
Provide a rationale for the identified activities.
Identify a theorist and how this theorist provided support justification for using the activities. (Pearson and Gallagher developed the Gradual Release of Responsibility model, as used in the attached lesson.)
Since this assignment requires ten pages, I would suggest a brief introduction of 1/2 to 1 full page, four pages for part one (one page per bullet point), four pages for part two (one page per bullet point listed under part 2 above), and a conclusion of 1/2 to 1 full page.
As for the lesson observed for part one, just reflect on what might be a typical kindergarten lesson about weather, integrating math with the use of charts and graphs about the weather.  Just make it sound good and appropriate for the grade level.
