PART 4: BACKGROUND RESEARCH & LITERATURE REVIEW (GROUP) (15% of grade)
In this part, your group will research your issue/concern collaboratively and develop a literature review. This process is aimed at helping you build up your background knowledge and support your claims, approaches, and ideas. This background information will shape and inform subsequent parts of this group project, including your activity plan and final design. Questions and points you should consider for your inquiry are:
What global problem does your project aim to address, and how is it defined in the literature? (2 pages)
What are the historical origins of the issue, and how does it relate to contemporary manifestations? Utilize library databases and/or Google Scholar to locate scholarly articles on your topic. (4 pages)
How is the identified organization addressing this issue? Research to understand the efforts made by families, communities, neighborhoods, organizations, and individuals concerning this issue. Gather information from their websites and journal articles about the organization and issue. Do not contact the organization!
Following in-depth research on the chosen issue and organization, collaborate as a group to compose your paper. This assignment will be submitted as one document by a group member. The paper should generally follow the APA format and consist of two main sections:
Literature Review:
Length: 4-6 pages double-spaced.
Include at least 6 scholarly articles from peer-reviewed journals to provide an overview of the social issue addressed by your project.
Provide in-text citations and a reference page in APA format.
Organizational Profile:
Length: 2 pages double-spaced.
Offer a detailed profile of the organization currently addressing aspects of the chosen issue.
Include information from the organization’s website, news articles, or white papers (e.g., formal research reports, policy reports).
I’ve included a detailed outline and rubric for your small-scale literature review: Literature Review Outline [CBCA Small-Scale Literature Review].docx
