Part 1
There are 4 different “moral arguments” that help to explain views on healthcare provision. Below is a brief definition of each.
- Utilitarian moral argument: to maximize the good and minimize the bad.
- Egalitarian moral argument: to act on the principle that all people are created equal.
- Contractarian moral argument: to act on the value of fairness (without bias).
- Libertarian moral argument: to act on the value of freedom.
Your Tasks
Task 1- Original Post
- Please respond to the following questions:
- How would you explain access to healthcare and healthcare coverage as an individual’s right?
- You will need specify at least one of the above moral arguments in answering this question. (10 points, 3 for specifying and explaining at least one moral argument)
- In what ways is healthcare a privilege (whether actual or perceived)? (6 points)
- How would you explain access to healthcare and healthcare coverage as an individual’s right?
- The post must be at least 250 words. (2 points)
- Include at least 1 outside reference, cited in APA format. This reference needs to be cited both in-text and at the end of the post in a reference list. (2 points)
Part 2
Task 1- Research
Review this list of community health providers in San Diego that you would like to do more research on. This is not an exhaustive list and you are welcome to choose one that is not on the list.
Task 2- Original Post
Answer the following questions about the health center in an original post:
- Name of the health center, location, contact information, and web URL. 1 point
- Does this organization target a certain population (e.g., children, elderly, young families, homeless, Native Americans, etc.)? 2 points
- What health services do they provide? Describe in detail at least two of their services. 10 points
- How does billing and insurance work at this health center? 3 points
- The post must be at least 250 words. 2 points
