Use this link to run a model simulation of surface ocean pH (from 1861 to 2100), based on historical data and future projections of carbon dioxide emissions. Answer the provided questions on your Assignment 3 Worksheet about ocean acidification.
2. Go to: NOAA Coral Reef Watch Daily 5km Regional Virtual Stations
NOAA provides station data for many coral reefs around the world. Use the information below to answer the questions on the Unit 3 Assignment.
When selecting a marker on the map, you are selecting an individual station. There will be a few data points listed.
SST = Sea Surface Temperature
Hotspot = SST – MMM_SST_climatology where the MMM_SST_climatology value is the highest monthly mean SST of the year.
Anomaly = If the value is positive, it means that the SST is higher than average. If the value is negative, it means that the SST is lower than average.
DHW = Degree Heating Week Value
The gauge at the top will tell you the current coral bleaching alert level.
