June 25, 2024

Part 1 – IGNORE THIS SECTION ON THE BRIEF. I DID NOT COMPLETE PRACTICAL SESSIONS SO I MYSELF AM COMPLETING AN ONLINE ACTIVITY INSTEAD.
Part 2 – Statistical workbook questions (400 words equivalent)
Following directed learning tasks associated with data analysis skills undertaken at level 4, you are required to follow instructions and answer all questions on the workbook located on Moodle in the assessment tile. Data and videos relating to this task will be present under the assessment tile on Moodle.
Part 3 – Scientific presentation (400 words equivalent)
You will be required to present a PowerPoint presentation within a timetabled session that you choose during the resit period. The PowerPoint will consist of a FIVE minute oral presentation and associated questions. The Presentation must relate to FIVE papers in a related area of your choice, published within the last TEN years. You are then required to summarise the subject area chosen, critique the papers and discuss how you would take this research forward.
Because you are resitting this assignment, you must pick a different topic and a different set of papers to those used in your original submission.
Your presentation must not exceed SIX slides and needs to contain the following information:
a)
Your JNumber
b)
Title slide
c)
Background of subject area chosen
d)
Summary of the major findings
e)
Critique of the papers chosen
f)
Future research, how would you develop this field of research further to address a specific issue.

Sessions will be recorded for monitoring. The slides will need to be uploaded within your portfolio in order to gain marks, failure to upload slides as part of the portfolio will result in zero marks for this section. The slides uploaded to the portfolio must be identical to those presented. Differences in uploaded slides to those presented will be subjected measures defined within the academic integrity policy. Please use your JNumber and not your name on the slides.
Part 4 – Statistical analysis in R (400 words equivalent)
You are required to report appropriate statistical analysis for TWO out of the FIVE provided data sets. Data sets for your cohort will be found on the module space (available in Excel and .csv formats).
Because you are resitting this assignment, you must choose two different datasets to the ones you chose in your previous submission.
For the data provided, please complete the following:
a)
Select a practical data set to analyse.
b)
Write at least one hypothesis (both null and alternative) for the data.
c)
Identify an appropriate statistical test and explain why it has been chosen (with supporting references)
d)

e)
Produce at least one graph that appropriately displays the data you have selected, with an appropriate figure legend.
