Paper Outline
You have been chosen to be the Governor of Georgia for one
day. One of the perks of your temporary gig is that you can either amend any
state law or create a new state law to address an issue that you feel is
important. The only caveat to this is that you must justify why you want to
make the change. You are to present your new or amended law in the form of a
paper 2 -3 pages in length. In the paper, you must include:
1) What
your change or addition is going to be
2) If
you are changing an existing law, you must include the Code number and elements
of the law
3) List
the elements of the amended or new law
4) Explain
why the current law, or the failure to have your new law, is wronging the
people of our great State.
5) Find
an article or study that supports your position and use that in your defense of
your new or updated law.
6) State
some possible problems your new or updated law might create and how your
administration will address those issues.
7) Finally,
summarize why your change or addition is going to make society better.
Requirements
The paper must be typed, double-spaced, using #12 Times New
Roman or Arial font.
The paper should have a title page which lists the student’s
name, course title, date, and the name of their law. This page does not count
as one of the required pages of text.
Students should give information about any cited studies or
articles in the paper. An example follows:
In the December 30,
2006 issue of Time magazine (p. 30 – 34), Morton conducted a study that found
eating 2 or 3 jalapeño peppers prior to consuming large quantities of an
alcoholic beverage made a person more likely to break into spontaneous
demonstrations of the Electric Slide. Morton also found that these subjects
were more likely to have a mullet and claim to know one or more NASCAR drivers.
