Paper 2 Assignment Guidelines
Paper 2 Assignment Guidelines:
For Paper 2, you will write a Comparative Literary Analysis. Like Paper 1, Comparative Literary Analysis Essays may take a few different avenues of exploration.
Though there are different lenses in which you can analyze a text, all Comparative Literary Analysis have one common goal: to compare the importance of ONE common theme between two (or more) texts by contrasting the different literary techniques used to convey the theme inside each text. Since authors use many different literary elements to compose a text, and convey a main idea/theme, Comparative Literary Analysis Essays communicate how, even though, two (or more) texts use different literary elements, they share a common theme.
In Paper 2, you will explain how, even though, two separate texts use different literary elements/techniques, the two texts still convey a common theme.
For example, two texts may explore a similar theme like, the hardships of women in the 1920s; yet, one text may use stream of consciousness to convey this theme, and the other text may use setting. A Comparative Literary Analysis will discuss the similarities of this theme in regards to both texts, and it will discuss the different literary techniques each text uses to convey this theme.
It will be important to also discuss why you believe the author’s chose their literary techniques, and you must determine which approach is more effective in your conclusion.
.
Once again, for Paper 2, choose two texts from Unit 2 that share a similar theme, and compare/contrast the literary elements inside each text that convey this theme.
Requirements for Paper 2:
An introductory paragraph, body paragraphs, and conclusion paragraph
A clear thesis that evaluates the central idea/theme of the text via a specific literary element
Clear topic sentences and transitions for each body paragraph

Well supported statements, explanations, and evidence that defends your thesis
