Rubric
All submissions must follow the conventions of scholarly writing. Properly formatted APA citations and references must be provided, where appropriate. Submissions that do not meet these expectations will be returned without scoring.
Assessment: Case Analysis
Consider your role as a nurse educator. In a course where students spend much of the learning time on their feet, several students approach you about a fellow student who is pregnant and is taking frequent breaks to sit and elevate her feet. These learners want to know why one student is receiving special treatment through extra breaks and the chance to sit, which they are not receiving. They state it is not fair to them and they want you to encourage the pregnant student to drop the course.
How might you respond to these students? In light of their objections, how might you respond to the student with specific needs because of her physical condition? How might you justify whether there is fairness to other students that have to stand from an ethic of justice versus an ethic of care perspective?
Consider this situation from the perspective of the ethic of justice versus the ethic of care (Sorbello, 2008). Use this seminal article from Module 2, Learning Activity 1, as the foundation of your reflection. As you review the article, think about how it informs this scenario. Then select a professional setting (i.e., academic, professional development, or clinical) and apply the scenario to your selected setting.

Part 1
Based on the setting you chose, solve the dilemma from the perspective of the ethic of care or the ethic of justice perspective. Explain how this dilemma might have legal implications.
In addition to Sorbello (2008), use the sources from your Learning Activities and/or the best available evidence from current literature to support your explanation.
Part 2
Based on the setting you chose, solve the dilemma from the opposite perspective. For example, if you argued from the ethic of care perspective in Part 1, argue from the ethic of justice perspective in Part 2, or vice versa. Also, based on the opposite perspective, explain how this dilemma might have legal implications.
In addition to Sorbello (2008), use the sources from your Learning Activities and/or the best available evidence from current literature to support your explanation.
