Good communication between nurses and patients is essential for the successful outcome of individualized nursing care of each patient. To achieve this, however, professional nurses must understand and help their patients, demonstrate courtesy, kindness and sincerity with emphasis on understanding of changes through the lifespan, cultural aspects, disparities while preventing or resolving ethical and legal issues.

Outline how cultural barriers, the presence of health care disparities, different age populations and socioeconomic factors affect nursing care.
