• Summarize the patient’s presenting signs and symptoms.
• Summarize the patient’s presenting diagnosis and the development of any secondary diagnosis.
• Include and overview of every disease state the patient has. This should be concise and include the definition, how it is diagnosed, how it is treated, and how it relates to the primary diagnosis and the current patient condition. [Citations in APA format]. Remember, you need to become the expert on this patient and their disease(s).
• Summarize the patient’s history.
• Summarize the need for aggressive bronchial hygiene and/or rescue noninvasive ventilation. Please explain this in great detail. Consider answering the following:
o Why is my patient receiving aggressive bronchial hygiene? Speak to the specific therapy. Why it was specifically prescribed as opposed to another airway clearance therapy? How is this therapy performed? What are the benefits/ risks? How does your patient tolerate therapy? How do we know specific therapy is working?
AND/ OR
o Why does my patient require noninvasive ventilation? What are the settings? Why is the patient specifically on these settings? (You may want to reference ABG’s) What is the plan to discontinue this type of therapy? When do we know the patient is ready to come off of noninvasive ventilation and transition to a different O₂ therapy?
• Summarize pertinent laboratory data including chest x-ray, ABG’s with interpretation, CBCs, chemistries, other significant blood work, cultures, PFTs, EKG, hemodynamics (flexible, haven’t had hemodynamics class yet)
