On the given topic, you will write a paper with a minimum of 5 pages not including the title and reference pages. Your paper must include a title page and a references page in proper format.

Your paper needs to have a minimum of 7 sources with at least 3 of these being peer-reviewed journal articles (you can get access to these through our library).
Your paper should address the following questions (at minimum), as well as any question presented by the topic selection itself.
What is the topic? – define what it actually is, not just a statement of the topic
Why is it important in the world of mathematics?
Why is it important outside of mathematics (ie the “real world”)
What makes the topic interesting?
What new insights or appreciation do you have for math now that you’ve done this research?
What conclusions can be drawn from this topic?
Your paper will be graded based on the provided rubric. It will also need to be submitted through TurnItIn, a plagiarism checker. You should not have more than 25% quoted material in the paper which much be cited properly. Summarizing and putting information in your own words from another source must also have citations. Your own thoughts and analysis of the material does not need to be cited. If you are concerned about your percentages or plagiarism, there is a “rough draft” submission available so that you can see your report prior to submitting the final draft. The rough draft submissions will not be graded. You may also get assistance with your paper from Brainfuse (the embedded tutoring program in Canvas). Any paper that is plagiarized will not receive credit.
